My goodness, we’re already into June and it’s a Tuesday morning to boot.
We drove home from Nashville yesterday morning. Josh had a week -long work trip with back-to-back shoots and since he was flying from LA to Nashville on Saturday morning Hugo and I drove up to spend a few days with him. It was so good to be together in one of our favorite cities. We stayed in a great hotel, ordered room service breakfast, met Johnny Cash’s sister Joanne, went to cowboy church, drank good coffee and Josh and I even got a babysitter one night so we could go on a date.
So it feels like a Monday today. The house is clean and so is the laundry, but it needs to be folded and I’m procrastinating. My top travel/life tips would probably be this, ALWAYS leave your house clean when you go away (I vacuum my way out the door, but that’s pure crazy. I’m sorry, I learned it from my parents.) and when you arrive home, take your suitcase straight to the laundry room and start a load as you unpack. I refuse to live out of a suitcase any longer than necessary!
Things are coming along slowly for the shop, I underestimated how it would be to get off the ground while caring for a little boy. I feel like every day I have a mental list of about 5 things that NEED to be done, and I “maybe” get to check 1 of them off. It can be frustrating for me, but Josh has been so good about giving me space to think and plan and create. I have some fun posts coming up and hopefully soon will have dresses for you to shop!
One more thing: have you tried a golden latte? Turmeric has been all the rage over the past few years, its healthful anti-inflammatory properties and pretty color have given it lots of (new) attention in the healthy food world. I’ve had one or two before but didn’t love it, until this weekend! Josh and I ordered a “Golden Monkey” at The Frothy Monkey in Nashville (they have several locations, you have to go!). Oh my gracious. It was creamy, with a honey sweetness and earthy spice from the cinnamon and turmeric. I ordered it for myself, but Josh kept stealing my mug. We couldn’t stop talking about how yummy it was and since I’m always looking for healthful, soothing foods to make for Josh when he gets home from intense days/travel I’ve been reading lots of different recipes and researching how to make them at home.
Have you jumped on the “golden” trend? Do you like it? Favorite recipes or coffee shops?
I'd love to hear from you, leave a comment below!
