Why are parents so hard to buy for??? I’ve been at this buying-gifts-for-the-parents thing for almost 30 years with barely a handful of successes. It’s rough I tell you. I’ve done personal (photo books), practical (a towel warmer for cold Wisconsin winters), super expensive (monogrammed cashmere blankets as a thank you for our wedding) and I don’t know what, but they’re just impossible.
Since getting married I’ve taken up the role as chief gift sender, which means double the work for birthdays and on all major holidays. I’m always looking for gift inspiration and making notes for upcoming dates. Josh laughs at my craziness, but he really appreciates that I handle this for him and I know how he loves it when we get calls & photos from the family when an unexpected package shows up. We both enjoy it so much!
So you may be wondering what I’m sending out to both of our dad’s this Father’s Day… Tada!!
I went with practical and simple this year. A pound each of their favorite coffees, socks (gold-tip for Josh’s dad, Pops, since he used to steal his all the time when he was younger, and some striped dress socks for The Chief, my dad), I baked up gluten-free chocolate chip cookies for Pops and for The Chief I included a box of handkerchiefs since he carries one everyday.
I used small boxes from Target with black crinkle paper and black satin ribbon to compliment the Starbucks coffee bags, topped them off with some funny cards and there you go! A little practical, a little humor and a heartfelt note should be just the thing.
Tell me, what its the best gift you’ve given your dad?
I'd love to hear from you, leave a comment below!
