Our apartment balcony has been in rough shape this summer. Random pool floats, forgotten beach towels and a Christmas tree stand that I couldn’t find better storage for inside. Yeah. I just completed a massive deep clean and purge of everything we own and have felt so good about where we’re at with our “stuff”. Josh and I have tried to be intentional about slowing down our evenings and we’ll often sit on our porch after the baby goes to bed and work or read and drink a hot cup of tea. During the day, I wouldn’t think about how bad it looked because I could just close the door, but at night, oh my gosh, I was going crazy!
On Saturday we did what any decent, twenty-something year old, fixer-upper loving couple would do and traipsed off to the Home Depot to pick up a few things. Between that and a little Target run and $35 later we were in business and I’ve been so happy with the way it turned out. No promises on the plants lasting longer than 2 weeks, but we shall see and I’m so in love with my new ferns!
We’re experimenting this week with “meal prep”. I did some macro-diet planning for Josh and boxing everything up was the best way to stay on track. For this week I chose BLT Chicken Salad, Honey Sriracha Meatballs and Beef Tacos. So far so good! It felt kinda weird to not be in the kitchen today (have I ever mentioned that I LOVE to cook?!?) but my gracious, it was so easy. If you’ve tried the meal prep and have any fun ideas for me, please leave me a comment! I also have a Pinterest board here with some things I hope to try soon.
I’ve never hid my love of the Hallmark Channel, and this weekend brought one of their best movies I’ve seen in a while. Signed, Sealed, Delivered is a series they started several years ago, it was a pilot show, a single season with 9 episodes and then the network decided to go the made-for-TV-movie route with 2 new movies per year. It follows four people who run the dead letter office at the US Post Office. Each episode/movie surrounds a lost piece of mail and the stories about the people sending and receiving them. The writer (Martha Williamson from Touched By An Angel) has done the best job of weaving strong characters and a solid theme of providence through all of it. I can’t recommend it enough! Anyway, last night was the latest movie “To The Altar”. So much good!
I hope your week is shaping up to be a good one. I just found out that we’re joining Josh on a business trip near the beach for a few days. Looks like my sunless tanner job today was some kind of sign of good things to come. Haha! Packing needs to happen and the inside of my car needs a good scrubbing before we leave. Tonight I’m making some tea and eating a giant bowl of rainier cherries and maybe will talk Josh into starting at the beginning of SSD, we shall see.
I'd love to hear from you, leave a comment below!
