For some reason, Monday’s are the easiest day for me to sit and write something newsy. My house is clean since I deep clean on Fridays and tidy everything before bed at night. I can’t sleep if my house is messy! Even when I was in bed for 20 hours a day, throwing up sick with HG, I was still cleaning. Josh tells the story of his wonderful Grandma who was literally cleaning her own hospital room up until the very end. I really wish I could have met her, I think we would’ve had a lot to talk about. Every time I wear Lilly Pulitzer Josh says it reminds him of a “Grandma Livermore Outfit”, they were New Yorkers who moved to Florida to live every Northerner’s dream, so animal print and loud florals were her signature. My mother-in-law also says I remind her of her, which is just about the sweetest compliment since she was very close to her mother. I once mailed Grandparents Day cards and put confetti in the envelope, she called us, teary, because she remembered the time her mother mailed a package to her all the way down in Mexico when they were living as missionaries and when she opened the box, a bunch of confetti fell out. Can’t make this stuff up! Kindred spirits in every time and space.
So anyways, my house is clean and it’s nap time and I have a fresh cup of coffee so it’s basically the perfect mom blogger situation. Right?!?
Our weekend was blissfully slow. I picked up Josh from the airport Friday night with a sick baby and so that cut out most of our plans for the next few days. The poor little man had a rough night and we all only slept a few hours, Saturday we just enjoyed having “dada” home and I made a run to our new Shake Shack for some takeout. Oh My Gracious! Such a good burger and the perfect meal to end the week!
If you follow me on Instagram you’ll see that I did a TON of meal prep yesterday. Y’all, I feel ten kinds of smug! It really is satisfying to see all those little containers lined up in the fridge. And as much as it seems overwhelming, I’m always amazing at how much time and money I save when I actually plan ahead. A bunch of friends we asking me which recipes and containers I use, so I think I’d like to put together a specific blog post later this week with our favorites so far. I’m not an expert, I’m just trying to keep my people on a healthy track and really love good food, but if you have any questions for me, please leave them below.
I’ve been working on a fun getaway for Josh and I and we were pretty much settled on Cancun until he came home and told me it’s not the place to travel right now. We scratched almost all of our plans and started over, thankfully I hadn’t booked anything yet, but I’m wanting something tropical and out of the country so that we can actually turn our phones off and rest. Costco Travel has been amazing so far with great hotels, deals and ideas, I’ll be sure to report back and let you know how we liked everything.
Have a great week everyone!
