I love Christmas and summer, but everything in between is of no interest to me.
That is, until I pull into my parking space and see that every neighbor has the prettiest little porch decorations up for the autumn months, then I feel like some sort of local Grinch (I know, wrong season) and rush off to Trader Joe’s to join the hoards of women picking out pumpkins.
Overwhelmed by the amount of ORANGE and RED, I started brainstorming some other color palettes for fall. I’m not sure if its been since I’ve had baby boy or the influence of the South, but I’ve become a blue and white girl. I love the bright, fresh feel and it seems to seamlessly coordinate all the shades of blue together which is necessary for me since I get so bogged down when making home decor decisions.
Here are a few of my favorite ideas pulled from Pinterest and other sources. It’s not completely pumpkin free, but much more subdued and not a mum in sight. I prefer to keep orange pumpkins where they belong, in my kitchen! I love any kind of pumpkin baked good, the texture and the color and the combination of spices, now that’s what I’m talking about!

I love the greenish/blue pumpkins with the pretty foliage and hydrangeas.

This one is more modern/minimalist, but I love the southern touch of cotton buds and the scent that eucalyptus gives off.

Instead of pumpkins and gourds, this gave me a great idea to use other types of produce. I love the artichokes and plums here!

Much more of a romantic feel, but the light pink pumpkins, candles and roses would be lovely for a little girls room or master bathroom.
Have you ever decorated for fall using a nontraditional color scheme?
DISCLAIMER: To my sweet orange-loving, pumpkin spice latte drinking, scarf wearing friends, I love you, don’t change and don’t hide your pumpkins when I come over. This post is just one woman’s controversial opinion.
