This was a fun little part of my new year planning. I’ve made inspiration boards in years past but this is the first time I’ve ever shared one with the world. Along with writing out my goals, I love having a pretty visual and kind of aesthetic for the year ahead. There are some definite similarities running between all of these goals, I probably could have put everything into one or two things, but I like to clarify a little bit more.
| 2020 GOALS |
Prioritize my marriage:
As Josh and I looked back over last year, the one thing that we both regretted was the effort we put into our marriage, busyness and travel took a toll and we had way more conflict than is normal for us. This year we’re committed more date nights (at home and out) and have talked through some of the changes we need to make to be better spouses. I can’t believe we’re celebrating our 4th anniversary next month, and I’m so grateful that Josh is the person (my favorite in the world!) that I get to spend my life with.
Be an intentional family:
This is a goal that will probably never go away for us, but it’s so important to us that we are aware of our time and resources so that we can use them for good. Being intentional in our parenting, with our money, with our health, in our faith and our church.
Get some help:
I’m at a point in motherhood and life in general, where I need help. I’m very much a “suck it up buttercup” kinda girl and this is hard to me, but the time has come for me to outsource a few of tasks for the sake of my sanity.
Cultivate a sense of home:
We have a big goal of purchasing a home this year. And at the same time, plans to travel quite a bit along with Josh for work. I want to thoughtfully fill this new home with things that we love, make spaces that are inviting and conversational and decorate carefully. I want to continue to build good habits at home and find some that travel with us so that we have those same comforting rhythms wherever we are. I often forget to turn on my pretty background music playlist, but I am pretty good about lighting the good candles. I never ever miss my first cup of coffee in the morning and our newest tradition (since I bought Josh an amazing waffle iron for Christmas) has been making homemade Belgium waffles every Saturday morning.
Rest:
I recently read “When Less Becomes More” by Emily Ley, she has been such an encouragement to my heart during these last few years. She wrote about experiencing burnout, about minimizing noise and distraction and just plain saying no to things. I was very inspired to get back to doing things that I really love and finding things that refuel me, things like, taking baths, baking, walking, writing and… for the last goal here…
Read:
I love to read, but often find myself without a book around and then I end up defaulting to checking Instagram for way too long. One of my goals this year is to read more, practically, I’m keeping a list of books to read on my phone and I really need to order a few for pickup at my library so that I always have something nearby.
