Days before the world shut down due to a pandemic, Josh and I signed off on the papers and bought our very first home.
It was a long time coming for us, with seven moves in the four years, we’ve been married we knew that it was time to find something more permanent, with more space, room for family and friends and most important, with a backyard. House hunting became a part time job for me over the last year, I spent countless hours checking the new listings, scoping out neighborhoods and getting very familiar with the nashville real estate market. It really paid off. I ended up finding a sweet home that hit all of our criteria and at a good price, Josh was in LA (of course) at the time but liked it too, I called our agent and made the appointment, I literally picked Josh up at the airpot and drive straight to the showing. We placed an offer the next morning.
It’s a 1990’s colonial in a fantastic neighborhood. Josh and I both love the style, it feels very nostalgic and all-American to us, that classic “Home Alone” “Father of the Bride” kind of house. It needed minimal updating before we moved in, but we were still able to get a small crew to come in and do painting and tile work. It’s amazing what fresh paint can do to a place! We have a few big projects that we’d like to tackle in the next six to twelve months, completely overhauling the upstairs bathrooms and replacing carpets, but it’s all ours and we are so happy.
I’m putting my limited interior designer skills to work and hoping to share my ideas and plans for each room as I start to put them together. It’s been so fun sketching and putting together the different looks!
It feels so good to have a place to settle into, a spot to call our own and a community that is ours. We’re looking forward to being able to have our friends over (I don’t know that I’ll ever look at hospitality the same again) and all of the memory making that is to come.
