My heart is pretty heavy today, the world is getting scarier and scarier. Josh and I stayed up way too late last night watching local news (that’s saying a lot for me, I never watch the news…) and I woke up a few times during the night feeling the dread and the hurt of everything unfolding around us. My dad always taught me to pray when I can’t sleep and there is something to the solitude, the quiet calling out to Jesus in those early hours. I didn’t have the words, I still don’t have words, but it always a comfort to me that I don’t have to know because “the Spirit intercedes for us”, He understanding and His words are better than ours ever will be. I have prayed that prayer of desperation many times over my life (so many times over the past year) and it brings peace, we can truly rest in that promise.
Didn’t mean to start preaching…
We had a quiet weekend, my very favorite kind. The weather was perfect and since we finished our porch and added a wooden picnic table to our patio, we’ve been eating almost every meal outside. On Saturday night Michael W. Smith had a drive in concert up the road from us, we had the best time singing along to some of his biggest hits over the years (it was a great set list of both worship and pop) as we watched a glorious sunset over our Tennessee mountains.
On a different note… Here’s my menu for the week, I love popping it up here because sometimes I forget what I cooked!
Monday: Pasta Carbonara I like mine with peas and gluten free pasta
Tuesday: French Onion Soup & Sourdough Bread
Wednesday: Omelets & potato hash – breakfast for dinner!
Thursday: Out for Chipotle
Friday: Homemade Pizza with sourdough crust Our current favorite combo is green olives, red sauce, mozzarella and fresh basil.
Saturday: Shredded Buffalo Chicken
