We’ve been taking a lot of hikes lately.
Let that one sink in… Me, taking hikes, in the woods, OUTSIDE! I don’t even know myself anymore. But being a boy-mom has changed me in so many good ways, and I’ve learned that the absolute best thing I can do to preserve my sanity is get this little man as much exercise as possible (bonus points if there is water and sunshine involved). While we’ve been waiting for one of our favorite parks to reopen, we found out that it has a really great hiking trail that connects to it, Hugo just thinks its the best thing since we have to scramble up a rock wall and there is a giant wooden overlook. I kinda think its a lot of fun too. And just to clarify, this is a very easy trail, do they classify them like ski hills? I have no idea. All I’m saying is that the other day I made it all the way up and back down while sipping an iced coffee, talking to my mom on the phone, helping Hugo and carrying his “treasure” of a stick that he found.
In other news, Hugo is finally potty trained. Oh goodness, I really stressed over this one for a long time but I felt that he wasn’t ready and I didn’t want to waste my time (not to mention, we traveled so often up until March the thought of having to deal with accidents in an airport made me want to cry). With all of our time at home, I knew that I was out of excuses and he was ready. The first few weeks were tough, but he started to catch on and just this last week something clicked, he figured it out and I’ve actually been surprised at how little work it’s been for me. I have ZERO advice to pass on, my kid is almost three and a half and I worried all the way. Just trust your gut and go at your child’s own pace (ok fine, I guess I have a little bit of advice, that’s all).
I hope your Wednesday is off to a good start, this week has already felt long to me so I’m looking forward to some downtime with Josh this weekend. I think that the pool is our plan for the rest of today, you know, water and sunshine…
