We celebrated Hugo’s fourth birthday earlier this month. He is obsessed with Jurrasic Park (in the spirit of full disclosure: he loves the LEGO version and we have watched the original movies with him but skipped the intense parts. We’re not terrible parents!) and our life right now is DINOSAUR EVERYTHING!
I chose a morning birthday party for him with a breakfast menu and games. We ended up postponing the original date and then had another round of cancelations at the last minute (ah, these days…) It ended up being us and one of our favorite families, the boys played and we ate and chatted for hours and all decided that’s how we prefer kid’s birthday parties to go from here on out!
Hugo has always loved balloons and its our tradition to decorate with them for birthdays. This year I tried a balloon garland and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. This picture doesn’t do it justice, the garland was HUGE! It ended up hanging in our house for about two weeks (along with the Jurassic Park sign borrowed from our very nostalgic office decor) and still looked great when I took it down. I used this kit from Amazon along with this balloon pump and I see many more garlands in our future!
I ordered these dinosaur eggs and the kids spent a good long time breaking them open. I’m still cleaning dust out of the rug but it was such a great activity. We also set up the bouncy castle outside and hid about 100 plastic eggs in the backyard for the everyone to find.
A coloring station with fresh crayons and markers!
The menu was gluten free quiche, fresh fruit skewers, bagels & cream cheese and hot chicken minis from Chick-fil-a that Josh picked up right before our guests arrived. Since it was an early party, I packaged up funfetti cupcakes in individual boxes and sent them home for later.
And just like that, we have a new little four year old!
