A few things that I thought were worth sharing this week…
- O’Cedar SpinMop
After watching Kristen Winchester’s instagrams and the deep cleaning chain reaction that has been set off thanks to 2020, I finally spent $30 on this mop. My target order last week included this mop, powdered tide, borax and baking soda, which could only mean one thing. THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET CLEAN!! I stripped several loads of laundry including all of our bath towels (if you’ve never done this, do yourself a favor and get to it! Its so gross and fascinating, here’s a great tutorial!) Anyway, the mop is a winner and Hugo thinks the spin feature is so cool that I actually have to tell him to stop mopping the floor. So there’s that.
2. OPI Seven Wonders of OPI
I picked up this new nail polish on a whim last week and just so happened to love it! I think this is the perfect early spring color, its the softest pink/purple and would look beautiful on anyone. My skin color is very “pink” so this polish looks like a neutral on me. I’m currently wearing it on my fingers and toes and feeling like spring!
3. Nespresso milk frother
I feel like Nespresso can do no wrong. Their milk warmer/frother is next level good! Josh has been on a very strict diet with no dairy allowed, this little machine turns any alternative milk (oat, almond, coconut) into a silky creamer. This is a must-have if you use non-dairy milk in your coffee! Mine came with my Nespresso machine, but you can purchase it solo here.
4. Schmidts Deodorant
Schmidts was the first natural deodorant brand that I found that worked. I used them on and off for the past 7 years but took a break recently to try a few other brands. Last month Costco had a giant pack of the Charcoal + Magnesium scent and I purchased them again thinking I’d see if it would work for Josh too. Y’all, this stuff is magic! Just know that this works for a mom who does barre workouts and cleans all day AND a high-energy film producer who never stops moving for 14 to 16 hours every day. This scent is subtle so we both use it, I also love the Rose & Vanilla scent.
5. This Article on Quality Time
I read this article several months ago and haven’t stopped thinking about it. It was a complete change in my mindset about the time I spend with the people I love. His story about “finding the moments between moments” made me cry because it was so true to my life as we often tag along with Josh for work. It can be painful and the hours are long and I wonder if it’s worth it. But it is. Because we do get to find those little breaks and experience things together and life and humor and surprises are found along the way. The author references this article as well and Jerry Seinfeld’s “garbage time”.
That line often comes back to me and I’m learning to embrace tiny moments of joy. Some of my favorite “garbage moments” lately have been: fast food picnics in the car with Hugo (we don’t do it often, but I enjoy every bite of my junk food and let him run around inside the car, he loves it!), Josh and I dropped Hugo off at his class at the gym and instead of a working out, we got coffee and sat in the hot tub and talked, one afternoon this week during Hugo’s nap, instead of emails or endless scrolling, I curled up in my bed and read a novel.
