St. Patrick’s Day is coming up this Thursday and just in case you haven’t figured out yet, we’re a very Irish bunch over here! Josh and I both grew up in Irish families and this was always a favorite and well celebrated holiday. As we speak, I have my corned beef and cabbage in the fridge and ready to go.
I wrote a similar post a few years ago when I was a writer for Birmingham Mom’s Collective. LINK HERE. But if you’re looking for a few last minute ideas to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with kids, I’ve got you covered.
Hugo and I read the story of St. Patrick this morning, as much as I love my annual box of Lucky Charms (and my treat mix!), I also want him to grow up knowing the true stories of brave men and women who have gone before us. Then we talked about shamrocks and how they can teach us about the Trinity (one shamrock, yet the three leaves symbolize the three parts of the Trinity) and we made some amazingly fun Cinnamon Rolls with matcha. He’s a pretty adventurous eater and the green tea flavor is mild so he was a fan.
Check out my Pinterest Board for more ideas! I’ve been adding new pins for the last month.
Easy ideas for St. Patrick’s Day with kids:
Shamrock Cinnamon Rolls: You can make your own dough or just use the kind in a tube. The tube route is definitely the way to go if you’re making these first thing in the morning!
Candy Necklaces: How much of the cereal do you think actually makes it onto the necklaces???
Rainbow Snack Board or Muffin Tin Snack Tray: my favorite way to serve fruit and veggies!
Rainbow Art Project: How cute is this? I think we will attempt it tomorrow…
