To Eat:
Humm Zero Peach Tea Kombucha. I picked this up on a whim from Costco and was absolutely delighted with the peach tea flavor. It reminds me of the classic snapple flavor, except with actual health benefits and low, low sugar. Delicious!
Green Tea. I’m on a huge tea drinking binge again. Multiple cups of organic green tea every day. Almost always a cup to go when I jump in the car. I just can’t get enough of a classic green.
Banana Bread. As part of our family rest day each weekend, I’ve settled on a loaf of homemade banana bread made fresh each Friday night. I wanted something special to mark the arrival of the weekend and this fits the bill perfectly. It uses up the ripe bananas from the week and is just the most wonderful thing to snack on over the weekend. But not this weekend, because Josh and I are both currently have some forced dietary restrictions. Do yourself a favor and use this recipe Joanna Gaines’s After School Banana Bread (I do not prefer nuts or chocolate chips in my banana bread, I use GF flour THIS ONE and I cut the sugar to about 2/3 cup.)
To Watch:
Super Mario Brothers. Since this is a “Team Walsh” production, Hugo would want you to know that he is obsessed with the new Mario movie. He burst into our room today to tell me that it had crossed over the $1 billion dollar globally in the box office. There’s a lot of talk about the box office here in our home, but it cracked me up to hear him so excited about this.
Jesus Revolution. And speaking of box office, we are still shocked and amazed at this film of ours. It came out on DVD this week. You can purchase or rent HERE!
Persuasion. Somehow I missed this movie when it came out last year and on a whim turned it on the other day. I meant to play it in the background while I was working but the style and humor completely pulled me in. I just instantly loved it! It took me a minute because I wanted to savor it, but I finally finished watching this morning while I sipped on a cup of green tea (ahem) and it was just as luxurious an experience as you would imagine.
I love Jane Austen and I have some of the funniest stories from the one time I went on a Pride & Prejudice tour in Bath. Ask me sometime! And in the meantime, watch this movie. I so enjoyed the mix of modern and regency, the set design was perfect, the dialogue witty and hilarious as can be and as my sister said “I feel like Jane would have appreciated this version.”
To Try:
Glazed Donut Manicure. I’m about a year late to this trend, but when my wonderful mother-in-law and I went out for mani/pedis over Easter break and we both chose the glazed donut mani. Ours was two coats of OPI Funny Bunny and a chrome top. Next time I’ll go for one coat of polish to make it sheer, but I loved this manicure and it felt so fresh and pretty. (p.s. Toes are OPI Cajun Shrimp. Tis the season!)
Misfits Market. I just started using this service and I’m really loving it so far. It’s produce and grocery items, some of them “not quite perfect”, at a discount and delivered to my front door. They are passionate about cutting food waste, which is fine by me because we go through so much produce and quickly. You place your order between Thursday to sunday and boxes are delivered on Tuesday. Use my code for $10 off your first order COOKWME-EL1GYFJZSFM.
