Team Walsh – August 2023 Favorite Things

As the month comes to a close, here are our August 2023 favorite things…

We endured a brutal heat wave, spent quite a few evenings at the pool and have eaten our fill of fresh veggies. Josh spent a week in the mountains on a retreat and discovered a love of fly fishing. Hugo and I survived a week without him, it was long and there was definitely bribery involved.

Our latest project, a music video premiered WATCH HERE. Josh produced it and I came along for the ride to hand out sunscreen and water bottles in the Mojave Desert. It was amazing and the most fun.

Josh & I ran away for a few nights while his parents came to watch Hugo. It had been far too long since we’d had a weekend with just the two of us. Josh spent some more time fly fishing, I rode an electric bike for the first time and we ate the most leisurely dinners every night.

My washing machine broke, I wish it was worthy of being added to our August 2023 Favorite things, but it was one that fit the space and the only one that could be delivered in time for me to wash a weeks worth of clothing and pack it into suitcases for an early morning flight. These are the worst kind of grown-up purchases.

In no particular order, here are our favorite things from this month:

To Eat:

• Adrenal Cocktail – I recently shared my recipe for Adrenal Cocktail and a little hack to make it easier.
• Red Plums – Oh my goodness, Whole Foods has had the most delicious red plums the past few weeks. I usually find that Hugo has eaten them before they’re ripe, but when they’re ready, they are perfect!

To Do:

• Peanuts Mini Puzzles – Hugo loves to do puzzles, this is the best one that I’ve found for him. It’s 500 pieces, but 12 small puzzles. This has kept him busy for so many hours, it’s been sitting on our coffee table for a month now. I just bought him another in the series Tony the Tiger (available at Hobby Lobby and on Amazon.)
• Bissell Little Green Cleaner – Speaking of grown-up purchases… After seeing others rave about this, our recent carpet installation, and an incident with some blue crayon and the new carpet, we ordered this handy dandy little cleaning machine and WOW! It’s for carpet and upholstery and is just a dream to use.
• Uncle Harry’s Remineralizing Kit – A very random purchase, but so far I am loving these products. I will report back if I notice any difference. I love how clean my teeth feel!
• b.Tan Sunless Tanner – At this point in the summer, my tan is the deepest it will get. I use this sunless tanner weekly to even out my skin tone and darken my tan. I’ve bought numerous bottles of this and it remains one of my favorites. Don’t forget a mitt. Life changing.

To Watch:

• Tom & Jerry – Hugo is very much into the classic Tom & Jerry tv show after my sister introduced him to it. The humor still lands and I find myself laughing at their antics.

• On Patrol: Live – Josh and I discovered this show while flipping through our tv channels a few weeks ago and we are hooked. It’s a police show with live camera feeds from police departments across the US. It airs live every Friday and Saturday night and it gives you such an appreciation for what officers go through in a day. It’s fascinating!
