With life slowly setting into a new rhythm, I’m feeling the need to create and write more often. And while summer isn’t over yet, I can feel this season coming to a close and I’m looking ahead with joy and excitement.
Our summer was spent in the Newborn Bubble. I had about as traditional a postpartum experience as a modern mother could have and spent the majority of the past few months in bed, near the bed and almost always in contact with our sweet baby. It was beautiful and stressful and happy and painful and I’m both thankful and sad to see this fourth trimester close.
As a Hyperemesis Gravidarum survivor (x2) I am also feeling better than I’ve felt in a year. I’m ready to organize my house, start cooking again and I’m even looking forward to working out! After a nice long summer break from school, we started our homeschool last week and I can feel (I hope) us slipping into a new normal.
September 2025 Goals:
Decorate for fall – I am decidedly NOT a pumpkin spice latte girly. I do not like the color orange, we don’t celebrate Halloween and “cute” fall decor is just not my thing. I know, I know. I’m aware of how unlikeable as a person this makes me sound! But let me tell you what I do love, heirloom pumpkins in pastel colors, any baked good that contains REAL pumpkin, apple cider EVERYTHING, apple orchards, colorful leaves, jazzy fall soundtracks, cool mornings. My aversion to orange makes decorating a bit of a challenge, but I have these gorgeous velvet pumpkins (similar) that my mom made me years ago in blush pink, raspberry pink and that I just love I need to purchase a new welcome mat and fill up my front door planters that have been empty for months.
Get back in the gym – It has been almost a year since I’ve done any kind of exercise. My experiences with Hyperemesis Gravidarum have been very difficult, even standing in the shower felt impossible most days. I’m now several months post c-section and I’m feeling excited to return to my favorite studio classes.
Organize and re-set office/homeschool room – One of my nesting projects was having closet systems installed upstairs. We hired Home Depot and they did a great job. They even ended up scheduling our install weeks ahead of time. This is a usually great problem to have but with Josh on set full time and me feeling so sick, I wasn’t able to organize ahead of time. My poor office has become the clutter catcher for the whole house the past few months. I just started sorting and organizing and I would love to reimagine the whole space as a craft/office/homeschool room (a tall order!)
Plan birthday getaway – I don’t love attention on my birthday and I always love an experience over things, so we are planning a late summer trip to someplace warm. I can’t wait!
Update and add to The Producer’s Wife! – I’m looking forward to adding more content and updating this space, it’s been a long time! Please leave me a comment and let me know if you have any requests or questions for me.
Work my “Clean Like My Grandma” housekeeping plan – Have you ever gotten to the place where you feel like your house is, what Jerry Seinfeld refers to as a “Garbage processing center”? In between contact naps and breastfeeding, I am attempting to purge our home and implement my “Clean Like My Grandma” plan. My paternal grandmother is a meticulous housekeeper, I have never ever seen a speck of dust in her house, her baseboards are spotless and her patio furniture pristine. I’m experimenting with a rotating deep cleaning schedule and I’m hoping to use this month to get ahead of the clutter and clean some spots I’ve been avoiding.
