Our 10th Anniversary Party
Today is our 10th wedding anniversary. 10 very good years. Marriage is my favorite thing and for us the past 10 years have been a sweet shelter from the world and so full of the goodness of God. Truly, being married to this man is the greatest blessing of my life and I am so grateful. To celebrate we threw a 10th anniversary party for our friends and family.
if you’re curious, I’ve written about our wedding a few times over the years (Favorite wedding details, our 6th anniversary)

Our 10th Anniversary Party: Our Why
As we started to approach this big milestone I was reflecting on life and our most impactful highs and lows from the last decade. One thing that came to mind was that we are not promised our tomorrow. Like everyone, we have seen death, divorce and tragedy. I helped plan my parents and grandparents anniversary parties, but I didn’t want to wait until our 25th or 50th to celebrate our marriage. This could easily start to veer negative, but our reason for throwing a party was joy. We wanted a reason to gather our friends, eat some good food and just enjoy life.

Our 10th Anniversary Party: The Details
Once we settled on throwing a party, plans started to come together. We chose one of our favorite local restaurants Perenn. They handled food, beverages, decor and gorgeous pastries for our friends to take home at the end of the night. I designed an invite on Canva and texted it out to friends and family and Josh booked a friend to take photos. My sister arranged the beautiful green and white flowers that were similar to our wedding florals.

Our original wedding dinner was served family style, so when I saw that this was an option for our menu, it was an easy choice! The food at Perenn was absolutely amazing and it was the best meal I can remember eating in a long time. The courses were perfectly paced and it was so lovely to slow down and enjoy every bite. Our end time was 9pm, but I was shocked when I realized we didn’t leave until almost 11pm! For me, the sign of a good party is when people overstay, it’s the ultimate compliment!

It has now been a few weeks since our party and we are still basking in the sweetness of it. We sent out quite a few invites and it’s always surprising to me who ends up coming. Our parents flew in, another friend flew in, a few drove from other states, most of the couples had to find sitters for their kids, we were so grateful for the effort they made to be with us. Looking around and seeing friends from different seasons of life all in the same room was a very special moment. As the song goes “you can’t make old friends”. I hope everyone experiences this as least once in their life.
Well, we’re off to celebrate one more time today. With much less fanfare. Josh is making movies, I have errands, suitcases full of laundry to tackle and homeschool to do. We came home last night from a week on the road and we’re settling back into our rhythms but tonight we’ll take our boys out for dinner and exchange gifts and cards. And I think I might even bake a cake!
Happy anniversary Josh Walsh, I’m the luckiest girl in the world.
