Something you should know is that I love to cook, but I hate to shop for food. It’s even stranger when you know that my sister and I owned a health food market in our early 20s. I really did love my little shop, I just hate the detail work involved in getting groceries. I tolerate it because I cook and bake nonstop and because feeding people is my love language.
Trader Joe’s is an exception for me. Probably because I tend to do “extras” shopping there, mostly snacks, frozen things and I love to check out the newest products. I break my shopping into 2-3 stores over the course of 2 weeks. Usually Costco for our bulk, organic and some gluten-free favorites, and then Sprouts which is where I get the majority of my list, produce and meat especially. (Leave me a comment if you’d like more meal planning or grocery posts.)
Yesterday I decided I wanted to make hot wings, seriously though, where do I come up with this stuff? So Hugo and I stopped in for a long-overdue TJ trip. Here’s what we left with (plus a handful of free animal crackers for little munchkin):
- Petit flower arrangement – The flowers are always amazing!
- Bananas & Veggie Sticks (I have a 18mo, no explanation should be needed)
- Organic frozen Chicken Wings & of course, Ranch
- Carolina Gold BBQ Sauce – I’m excited to try this!
- Chili Pepper Sauce – this was the closest I could find to Franks Red Hot Sauce (it worked!)
- Riced Cauliflower Stir Fry – I’ve been looking forward to this one! My only complaint with TJs is they have very few gluten-free frozen options. But I’ve heard good things about this Fried Rice and its made with tamari instead of soy sauce.
- Goat Milk – for my kid (hahahaha!)
- Chocolate Chips – I always have these in my pantry.
- Mint Chip Ice Cream – mom snacks

Okay, are you ready for it??? Are you ready to see my (predicted) BEST FIND OF THE SUMMER? Here we go…
It’s a water table.
Y’all I caved. The temps have been so hot and Hugo is at a really difficult age to take to the pool (no fear of water and very active). At 6am this morning, I was up googling reviews for the best water tables for toddlers. By 9am we were in the car on our way to Target to secure our very own Little Tykes Spinning Seas Water Table. What can I say?!? It has been such a hit all day, Hugo has played with it non-stop!
Some Target stores still have this one in stock, it looks to be sold out online but you can get a very similar version from Amazon in the link below.
I'd love to hear from you, leave a comment below!
