After a few years of buying baskets that fell apart the day after Easter and being that they were last minute finds on the last shelf at Target the night before (ahem…) I decided it was time to commit to one in the hopes that is would last an entire childhood. Inspiration for me always comes in waves. Several different things that seemingly connect in my head. About the same time, I heard someone mention how her mother would surprise her children with little themed baskets of treats outside their bedroom door on holidays. And I loved this idea.
This sent me into a spiral of research looking for the perfect, quality basket that I could use for Easter, Valentine’s Day and beyond. I discovered this amazing Olli & Ella picnic basket (linked at the bottom of this post, don’t miss all of the wonderful colors!) This little basket is the sweetest thing! Great size, not too big (read: less items needed to fill it) and perfectly classic for any holiday or event. I’ve had so much fun filling it up and surprising Hugo over the past year.
For Valentine’s Day I love to make a special breakfast and give out a few treats. I try to make the morning about celebrating together as a family since Josh and I usually eat dinner with just the two of us. We usually exchange small gifts and there’s always a box of Russel Stover’s chocolate because that is a Walsh Man Family Tradition (the brothers all call each other on Valentine’s Day on their way to Walgreens to make the purchase. I get such a kick out of this!).
