Last weekend we popped down to the beach for a few days at one of our favorite places, 30A. Since it is currently off-off season, we booked an amazing deal on a rental house (I thought I was being so clever in getting a private heated pool, but when we arrived the heater was broken. It was such a bummer, but we had a good time anyway.) We ended up with perfect weather the first day and a half and then rainy the rest of the time, but we caught up on watching movies, did a puzzle and ate lots of snacks.
And speaking of snacks…
Here is all the food that I packed for a weekend at a beach house rental.
Fridge & Freezer
Organic apples, mini cucumbers & clementines for easy snacking
Eggs
Maple syrup (for Sunday morning pancakes)
Gluten free bread from Canyon Bakehouse
LaCroix
Poppi soda (I just ordered a case from Amazon and they are my new favorite treat!)
Honest Kids juice boxes
Bottled water
Homemade Tuna salad (this recipe will change your life!)
Cream and Oat milk for our morning coffee
Frozen pizza (for a pizza night when the local restaurant was out of gf crust. Daiya makes an amazing gluten free AND dairy free pizza.)
Snacks/Pantry Staples
Tortilla chips & salsa
Kettle chips
Microwave popcorn
Gluten free crackers
Pancake mix
Annies Mac & Cheese
Honey Nut Cheerios (my attempt to be a chill, vacation mom and buy myself a few more minutes of sleep)
Gluten free pancake mix
Salt/pepper/olive oil
Cinnamon coffee cake (gluten free and made from this mix, it was so wonderful with our morning coffee.
Coffee (regular and decaf) and our favorite teas
I am also at a place in life where I bring my own coffee maker if we are within driving distance. I know, it’s very high maintenance, but I am someone who has a cup of coffee MINUTES after I wake up and it is a creature comfort of mine to have a consistent cup of coffee when we are on the road. Also, the Nespresso milk frother is unreal, especially if you use a non-dairy milk like Josh does.
In all, we did end up bringing back a tote and a cooler of leftover groceries, but this plan worked out really well for us. We were able to have a pretty carefree weekend without multiple trips to the grocery store and a cranky starving kiddo (or parents) waiting for a table. Mornings were very relaxed with coffee and cereal and cartoons. Then lunch or dinner out at our favorite 30A restaurants!
I hope this is helpful, I’m always looking for ideas of things to pack for the beach because everything need to be easy/minimal ingredients.
