After several years and many false starts, our bathroom renovation has finally begun.
PRAISE HANDS!
It has been a long time coming but with the pandemic and the labor and materials shortages we’ve had to keep pushing off our biggest home project to date. Because they were in working condition and really only just ugly, we were able to live with them “as-is” until last fall when started renovating the shower and then had to abandon it for the film set. We knew that we would arrive home to only one working bathroom (our small hall bath) so we had no choice but to jump in immediately after we arrived.
Oh, and our plumbing backed up three days after we got back and resulted in a very hefty re-pipe and an entire front yard that will need to be re-landscaped due to to the backhoe damage. This was not the gentle adjustment that I was hoping for our family this month. Haha!
The good news is that Josh has brought his signature tenacity and now there is a real sense of urgency to get this done. As annoyed as I have been this whole week (Josh says I sound like a brat and he’s not wrong…) I am very impressed at the progress made.
It has been a lot of trips to Home Depot, design changes and so much much tracked through my house, but we are on our way and can not wait for this to be done!
I’m dying on the inside over these photos, but I think I may actually be happy one day to look back on the before photos .
The tile is getting grouted today and hopefully the shower door hung this week. It feels so good to have one thing done!
Bathroom Renovation: Week One
- Remove shower
- Remove vanities
- Order bathtub (I had to scratch my original plan of a black bathtub, but we upgraded to a cast iron. Lets hope the next owners don’t want to remove this behemoth because I don’t know that it’s moving…)
- Order new vanities and light fixtures
- Cap off plumbing fixtures
- Tile shower
- Lay wood flooring
