I’ve been working on a special project the past few weeks… This beautiful Childhood Memory Book by Duncan & Stone. This is the most elegant baby book that I’ve ever seen and worthy of becoming an heirloom. Whether you’re a new mom looking for a place to start or a mom who’s been in it for a minute (like me!), I have a few baby book tips and tricks to share!
While I’m definitely the type of mom who would keep a detailed baby book, it was just never one of those things that I got around to doing. While I do blog often about motherhood, most of my favorite memories are instagram photos with detailed captions to them, but we all know that having a physical copy as well as digital is a good plan. I have lofty dreams of one day completing Nancy Ray’s Legacy Photo System, and Emily Ley has inspired me to one day do family yearbook albums. I know, I know, what AM I waiting for?!?
This project was a happy middle!
Duncan & Stone created this Childhood Memory Book which is a modern baby book that takes your child from birth to 18 years old. I only had six years to catch up on! Here’s how I did it.
How to create a beautiful baby book:
- Cull photos. I was traveling quite a bit, but when I had time at the airport, I went through tens of thousands of photos on my phone, everything since Hugo was born and put my favorites or highlights into a specific photo folder. I was doing this for one child, but for more I would sort into one folder and then sort into individual folders from there.
- Don’t forget each year’s birthday photo!
- Now, go through your photo folder and grab your top favorite photos (I had about 90 and ended up printing 50.)
- Print your photos. I used Artifact Uprising because I love how high quality their printing is. I will warn you that their photo paper is thick, but I didn’t have any trouble fitting the photos into my book.
- Buy yourself a really lovely pen and set it aside, only for the baby book!
- You will also need glue dots or double sided tape.
- Once you’ve assembled everything, grab your drink of choice (in a spill-proof cup) and get to work putting it together. The prompts in the Childhood Memory Book made it very easy to remember back and once you finish you have the most precious heirloom. Hugo was so delighted to look through his and got such a kick out of all the photos.
I only wish I had started sooner! This is also a perfect baby shower gift (it comes in pink, blue and cream linen). I’m seeing it all wrapped up with a beautiful pen, double sided tape and maybe a cute Instax Mini camera?!?
I’ve partnered with StackInfluence and Duncan & Stone for today’s post. Duncan & Stone sent me this lovely Childhood Memory Book and I took it from there. Here is my experience with this wonderful product.
